Living in Limbo: God’s Plan for Our Purposeful Journey

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” – Jeremiah 29:11 Have you ever woken up and wondered why life feels less fulfilling or purposeful than you hoped? You’re not alone. Even people who seem to have…

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” – Jeremiah 29:11

Have you ever woken up and wondered why life feels less fulfilling or purposeful than you hoped? You’re not alone. Even people who seem to have it all together—motivational speakers, pastors, and spiritual leaders—have those moments of wondering, “Why am I here?” It’s easy to get caught in that cycle, especially after long days of work or seasons of decision-making, only to feel like we’re in “limbo,” unsure of the next step forward.

But here’s the truth: Scripture holds the answers we’re searching for, even in those uncertain times. Take a moment to reflect on Jeremiah 29:11, where God Himself speaks directly to us through the prophet Jeremiah. He reminds us that He has thoughts of peace toward us, plans that lead to a future filled with purpose and hope. God is not just a distant figure; He’s actively guiding our steps, even in the moments when we feel like we’re wandering.

If you’re feeling uncertain, or even if your situation is more chaotic than calm, I want to encourage you to turn it over to God. Give Him the weight of whatever is troubling you, and allow Him to direct your paths. Maybe life has felt overwhelming, or the future looks daunting; yet, God offers us peace. Life is short, and stress only steals more of it. But with God, we can be assured that our life has an eternal purpose.

And remember, nothing speaks of God’s love and purpose more than what happened at Calvary. Jesus came in flesh and sacrificed Himself for our sins, so we could be free from the chains of sin and empowered to overcome life’s struggles. Because of His victory, we are no longer bound by addictions or fears. We are champions, overcomers, and heirs to the promises He’s made.

When those doubts creep in, and the enemy whispers that you’re alone or destined for failure, remember—those lies are his own fate, not yours. God’s thoughts toward you are thoughts of peace, and He’s leading you toward a future filled with hope and purpose. This is why finding community in a Bible-believing church is essential; it’s a place where we can support each other in our faith journey and remind ourselves that Jesus is coming soon for His church—His people, which includes you.

So if you find yourself feeling lost or uncertain, hand it over to God. Pray for His guidance and trust that He’ll steer you through the storms. And as you go, invite others to join you in this incredible journey of faith.

Hank
